Does anyone know about this?? I'm REALLY confused. My TSH level was at 5.25, which is considered high (my dr also agrees), but she said if that's elevated, then they check your free T4. My free T4 was completely normal. She indicated if they gave me meds to lower my TSH, it would increase my T4 levels - so they aren't going to do anything. Does this sound right?? This is all new to me so I'm trying to do my own research and read about hypothyroidism. Now you need a free T3 test as well. if that is also normal, then you are normal.TSH is meaningless. It's just an indirect second hand way to GUESS at what your T3 and T4 levels are. It's not a thyroid hormone. It doesn't cause any diseases or conditions or symptoms. The thyroid hormones are T3 and T4, and if they are high or low, they cause symptoms.
Elevated TSH level but normal Free T4 Level?
